Thursday, 6 January: Three King’s Day
This day on the Barcelona Calendar 2022 marks the day the Three Kings or the Three Wise Men arrived in Bethlehem bearing gifts of frankincense, gold and myrrh for the newborn saviour. Saturday, 12 February: Santa Eulàlia
Santa Eulàlia is the co-patron saint of Barcelona. Enjoy a myriad of cultural activities throughout the city celebrating her unique story!

Tuesday, 1 March: Carnival
Whatever you call it, Carnaval, Mardi Gras or Carnestotles is an exciting, colourful event. In Barcelona expect to see costumes galore in celebration of the first full moon after the winter solstice.

Sunday, 10 April – Saturday 16 April: Holy Week
Starting on Palm Sunday is one of the biggest religious events on the Barcelona Calendar 2022. Barcelona at Easter promises elaborate processions and delicious Easter treats.

Good Friday is a national holiday in Spain and all shops will be closed.

Sunday 17 & Monday, 18 April: Easter Sunday & Easter Monday
Easter weekend celebrates the day on which Jesus was resurrected and rose again. Children often receive a mona de Pascua on Easter Monday. Be sure to browse local bakeries to spot this chocolate treat in the form of eggs, popular characters and animals, and even famous landmarks.

Saturday, 23 April: Sant Jordi (St George’s Day)
Known as Catalonia’s answer to Valentine’s Day, Sant Jordi celebrates the day of Catalonia’s patron saint, also known as St George.
It’s common to exchange roses and books on this day on the Barcelona Calendar 2022. Expect the city’s largest avenues to be lined with bookstalls and flower sellers in what promises to be a romantic day.
